Canine Boarding

“The Prairie Preserve” at Indian Prairie Animal Hospital provides a spa-like boarding experience for your dog, which includes stress reducing tranquil music, as well as aromatherapy to fill the air with soothing essential oils. Because being away from their familiar environment can be stressful, we strive to give your dog that “home away from home” feel with lots of love, attention and calm surroundings.

Canine Boarding Requirements: Each dog is required to have a current physical examination with one of our doctors prior to boarding. In addition, we require proof of current vaccination. These vaccines include: Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Leptospirosis and Bordetella. These vaccines must be given at least 48 hours prior to boarding. Lastly, we require proof of a negative fecal test being done within the last 6 months.

All dogs are walked to potty at least 3 times daily in our large, fenced-in yard. At that time, they also get one on one play time to stretch their legs with our staff members.

What should you bring?

Indian Prairie can provide Hills Science Diet Sensitive Stomach dry food, but if your dog eats a special dry, canned or prescription diet, we ask you bring your food for their stay. We will provide both food & water bowls. The Prairie Preserve can provide plenty of treats while you’re away, but if your dog has a food allergy, please bring treats from home. If your dog is currently on any medication, please keep in the original labeled vial or packaging. Do not transfer meds to a separate container, plastic bag or pre-wrap in food/pill pocket.

The Prairie Preserve welcomes your dog’s favorite toy or blanket, however we ask that you leave all beds at home since we are unable to wash it if it is soiled. Indian Prairie Animal Hospital provides a complementary elevated cot in each suite accompanied by a cozy blanket to keep your dog comfortable during their stay. We also provide stuffed toys and tennis balls that can be used to entice your dog to run & play with through the yard!

Doggie Daycare

Doggie Daycare at Indian Prairie Animal Hospital includes morning & afternoon staff supervised, group play outdoors in our large fences-in yard (weather permitting) where your dog can utilize our agility equipment, play with other dogs or just relax in the warm sun!

If weather prohibits outdoor group play, dogs will have individual play time with a staff member indoors.

Doggie Daycare Requirements: Each dog is required to have a current physical examination with one of our doctors prior to scheduling daycare. In addition, we require proof of current vaccination. Their vaccines include: Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella, and Leptospirosis. If any one of these needs to be updated, they must be given at least 48 hours prior to day play. Lastly, we require proof of a negative fecal test being done within the last 6 months. If one is needed, the results must be negative before scheduling daycare.

New Dogs to Daycare must be approved through our evaluation process prior to attending group play. Please refer to our Online Forms page to review our evaluation policy & complete questionnaire form.

Daycare special: Come in for 9 visits and receive your 10th visit free!

Feline Boarding

At Indian Prairie Animal Hospital all boarding cats are housed in our quiet, relaxing condos which are located in a room separate from all dog and other animals boarding. Spa music plays throughout the day which helps drown out any additional noise. Having a separate cat room ensures a less stressful experience, allowing them to take the time to adapt to their new surroundings. Each day they spend one on one time with a staff member to enjoy a brushing, play time and lots of attention!

Feline Boarding Requirements: Each cat is required to have a current physical examination with one of our doctors prior to boarding. In addition, we require proof of current vaccination. These vaccines include: Rabies, FVRCP (Feline Distemper) and Feline Leukemia if the cat goes outdoors. These vaccines must be given at least 48 hours prior to boarding. Lastly, we require proof of a negative fecal test being done within the last 6 months.
